Utility Trenching

Need a line run underground? We dig clean, precise trenches for utility installation and get the ground back to normal when we’re done.

Utility trenching is the process of excavating a narrow, precise trench to install underground lines — water lines, sewer lines, electrical conduits, gas lines, telecommunications cables. Wagner handles utility trenching for residential, commercial and agricultural projects across central Wisconsin.

We use mini excavators that minimize disruption to surrounding lawn and landscaping. We dig to the correct depth and width for the utility being installed, and we backfill and grade the area when the work is complete.

You might be ready for this project if:

You’re running a new water line to an outbuilding or addition

You’re running a new water line to an outbuilding or addition

You’re connecting to municipal sewer or water

You’re building a new structure that needs underground utility connections

Why Wagner?

Precise trenching takes the right equipment and the right technique. We minimize lawn and landscape disruption, dig to spec, and leave the site clean.

FAQs

What utilities can be installed via trenching?

We trench for water lines, sewer lines, electrical conduits, gas lines and telecommunications cables. The utility provider or licensed contractor handles the actual line installation — we provide the trench.

How deep does a utility trench need to be?

Depth requirements vary by utility type and local codes. Water lines typically need to be below frost depth — in Wisconsin that’s generally 4–5 feet. We’ll confirm the requirements for your specific project.
